Frequently Asked Questions

We recommend paintball for 10 years of age and older. For younger players it really depends on the kids themselves. If they play hockey, lacrosse, etc. and are of a sturdy build it may be suitable, especially if playing with a number of parents and/or adults. Younger than 8 years of age is definitely not recommended as the equipment will not fit properly and the game may be too intense for them.

The rental package includes the mandatory facemask/goggles, a semi-automatic rifle, a loader to hold paintballs and all the air you need for the day. This package is in addition to the admission and paintballs unless otherwise stated. You may upgrade your paintball marker to a sniper-semi rifle, or to our top of the line deluxe semi snipers for an additional charge. We also rent coveralls, gloves, body armour and Rhinohide Gear™ jackets, pants and hats. If players have their own paintball equipment, they are welcome to use it on our field. It must be checked in and chronographed prior to play.
Laser tag equipment is included in the Laser Tag admission cost.

No, unless otherwise stated in a package price. Everyone goes through different amounts of paintballs so we leave it to your judgment as to how many you want to buy. Paintballs are available in 50 bags, 500 bags and 2000 cases. We only use our logo Premium brand paintballs which are of superior quality for most types of paintball guns and more likely to wash out of clothes. Please respect our business - no other paintballs may be used on our field.

Paintball: Players are encouraged to bring or wear their own clothes suitable for paintball. We recommend old 'play' clothes that can get dirty, the ‘paint’ washes out, but you will get dirty! (That’s half the fun!!) Also, long sleeve shirts/sweatshirts/jackets - hoodies are perfect for paintball and either old jeans or sweats/joggers is best. Shorts, t-shirts and sandals are NOT recommended, also some clothing may stain if not washed immediately after play. It’s an outdoor field so if it is raining on the day of play, you may want to bring a change of clothes. We rent jackets, pants and coveralls at the field if you don’t want to bring your own.
Lockers are available for a small fee to store your paintballs and/or valuables in while playing.
If you are having a BBQ, you are welcome to bring all your own food and condiments. A small fee is charged to use this area. We supply the BBQ, propane, cooking utensils and a party area for up to 1 hour for you to enjoy. Please note that the BBQ areas are subject to availability.

No. Only paintballs purchased at Safari Ridge can be used on our field. One reason is that we try to ensure that the paint mark will wash out of clothes, many brands/colors don’t, especially low price paintballs purchased at department stores. (And the other reason is that we are in the business of selling paintballs.)

Yes. Please refer to our ‘Notice regarding Personal Paintball Equipment’ on the Rates & Rentals page. We also fill Compressed Air tanks. If you are still using C02 we’ll just swap out your tank for a Rental HP tank including all day air for one low price. For group/birthday party discounts, there is no further discount to those players as we include All Day Air in lieu of the rental package that is included. As an added convenience, if a player’s own equipment malfunctions they may use our rental gear at no additional cost.

This all depends on how many times you pull the trigger. As a general average, figure on approximately 50 paintballs per player/per game. Some players go through many more and some less than this estimate.

Yes, we encourage groups - big or small - to play by themselves. Even 2 players can enjoy a 1 on 1 if they don't feel comfortable playing with other players.
Safari Ridge is a public drop-in field so the number of players attending will vary throughout the day. However, we run continuous games on our 4 fields which allows your group private access to the playing field on an alternating basis. While one group is playing, the other(s) are getting their equipment cleaned and taking a short breather before their next game. This time goes quickly, so no need to worry that you are spending all your time waiting. The continuous game format makes for a more intense - action packed game, rather than everyone hiding for hours and no one making a move.

No, you came to play the game - not just watch it! After you have been hit or splattered you must leave the field through the exit gate, then you wait at the re-entry gate until the buzzer sounds. This timer is usually set at 30 seconds to two minute intervals, so you never have to wait very long before joining the fun and action again!

Well..... you can usually feel it. It can be like catching a baseball in your hand, there is an initial ‘ouch’ but it fades quickly. Getting hit on bare skin can be a little more painful, that’s why we suggest you wear clothes to cover up bare arms and legs. Loose, baggy clothes are best, but not too big - you still have to run around without them falling off! The loose fabric absorbs much of the hit so you are less likely to feel anything on your body. Also, your adrenaline is pumping so high that sometimes you can’t even feel the paintball at all! In short, the excitement of the game outweighs the pain factor for most players, but if you are still concerned, ask about our new line of Rhinohide Gear™. These lightweight outfits are specially designed to provide protection for your entire body in a two piece jacket and pants outfit. They may be rented individually or as a set.
Paintballs hurt enough that you don't want to get hit, but not enough that you want to Quit!

How many paintballs will I need?
-
-
Birthday parties 6-8 players will usually start with 1 or 2 - 500 bulk bags to be divided among the players. Additional paintballs can be purchased as you need them. Smaller quantities 50/bag are also available. Most parties estimate about 150 - 200 paintballs per player. Paintballs are sold in bulk for further savings. Unused paintballs may be brought back and used at the field, but unfortunately we cannot allow other paintballs to be brought to the field. -
Unlimited Play groups with 10 - 15 players will usually start with a 2000 case to be divided among the players. Additional paintballs can be purchased as you need them. Hint: Best deal is our 2000 case rather than individual 500 bags, as we are not able to alter the price once smaller quantities have been purchased and used. -
A rough average is 50 paintballs per player per game, but by no means is absolutely accurate.

-
Do we get to play by ourselves, just our group?
-
-
YES! If you are playing Unlimited games, we encourage groups - big or small - to play by themselves. Our new 4 field 'Capture the Flag' Circuit allows groups to play by themselves on one field, then go on to the next field, and so on. You can easily track your score throughout the day as well, for that competitive edge! -
You may invite other players to join your group, but that is entirely up to you. -
Laser Tag: We cannot guarantee that you will get the field for your own use as we usually only use one field for laser tag play.
-

Although paintball marks normally wash out easily, some clothing may stain if not washed immediately after play. It’s an outdoor field so if it is raining on the day of play, you may want to bring a change of clothes. We rent jackets, pants and coveralls at the field if you don''t want to bring your own.
