Is there an age requirement?
We recommend paintball for 10 years of age and older. For younger players
it really depends on the kids themselves. If they play hockey, lacrosse, etc.
and are of a sturdy build it may be suitable, especially if playing with a
number of parents and/or adults. Younger than 8 years of age is definitely not
recommended as the equipment will not fit properly and the game may be too
intense for them.
What comes with the
Rental Package?
The
rental package includes the mandatory facemask/goggles, a
Tippmann Custom 98 or a Piranha semi-automatic rifle, a loader to hold paintballs and all the air
you need for
the day. The cost of this package is only $7.95. You may upgrade your paintball
marker to a sniper-semi rifle, or to our top of the line deluxe semi sniper
or Flatline barrel for the Tippmanns for an additional charge. We also
rent coveralls, gloves,
body armour and Rhinohide Gear™ jackets, pants and hats. If players have their own
paintball equipment, they are
welcome to use it on our field. It must be checked in and chronographed prior to
play.
Laser tag equipment is included in the Laser Tag admission cost.
Are paintballs included with
Admission or Rental Package?
No, unless otherwise stated in a package price. Everyone goes through different amounts of paintballs so we leave it to
your judgment as to how many you want to buy. Paintballs are 50 bag $3.50, 500
bag $29.95, 2000 case $99.95. Premium paintballs are now available
in 500 bags for $34.95 and 2000 cases for $109.95.
What else do I need to buy/rent or bring?
-
Paintball: The
premium equipment rental package is included in our group specials which sets you up
with everything you need to
play the game with (full-face safety goggles, semi-automatic
paintball marker, unlimited air and a loader to hold your
paintballs).
Optional rental equipment is available and
priced separately. Paintballs are sold separately and must be
purchased at the field.
-
Laser Tag: Everything you need to play the game is included with the
price. Please wear clothes that are suitable for outdoors and
that may get dirty if you do happen to get some paint splatter
on them. Outdoor Laser Tag games are played in a rotation style
on the paintball field.
- Players are encouraged to bring or wear their own clothes suitable for
paintball. We recommend old 'play' clothes that can get dirty, the ‘paint’ washes out, but
you will get dirty! (That’s half the fun!!) Also, long sleeve shirts/sweatshirts/jackets
- hoodies are perfect for paintball and either old jeans or sweats/joggers is best.
Shorts, t-shirts and sandals are NOT recommended, also some light colored
clothing may stain if not washed immediately after play. It’s an
outdoor field so if it is raining on the day of play, you may want to bring a
change of clothes. We rent jackets, pants and coveralls at the field if you don’t want to
bring your own.
- If you are having a BBQ, you are welcome to bring all your
own food and condiments. We supply the BBQ, propane, cooking
utensils and a party area for you to enjoy. Cost is only
$10.00 to use the area for up to 1 hour. Please note that the BBQ areas are
subject to availability.
Can I use my own paintballs at Safari Ridge?
No. Only paintballs purchased at Safari Ridge can be used on our field. One
reason is that we try to ensure that the paint mark will wash out of clothes,
many brands/colors don’t, especially low price paintballs purchased at
department stores. (And the other reason is that we are in the business
of selling paintballs.)
Can I use my own
paintball equipment at Safari Ridge?
Yes. Please refer to our
Notice regarding Personal Paintball
Equipment.
How long will my paintballs last?
This all depends on how many times you pull the trigger. As a general
average, figure on approximately 50 paintballs per player/per game. Some players go through many
more and some less than this estimate.
What should I wear?
Players are encouraged to bring or wear their own clothes
suitable for paintball. We recommend old 'play' clothes that can get dirty, the ‘paint’ washes out, but
you will get dirty! (That’s half the fun!!) Also, long sleeve
shirts/sweatshirts/jackets and either old jeans or sweats/joggers is best.
Hoodies are perfect for paintall.
For laser tag it's recommended to wear old clothes that can also
get dirty and suitable for outdoor play.
Will my group get the field to ourselves?
Yes, we encourage groups - big or small - to play by
themselves. Even 2 players can enjoy a 1 on 1 if they don't feel comfortable
playing with other players.
Safari Ridge is a public drop-in field so the number of players attending
will vary throughout the day. However, we run continuous games on our 4 fields which
allows your group private access to the playing field on an alternating basis. While one group is playing, the other(s) are getting their
equipment cleaned and taking a short breather before their next game. This time
goes quickly, so no need to worry that you are spending all your time waiting. The
continuous game format makes
for a more intense - action packed game, rather than everyone hiding for hours
and no one making a move. We now offer
Private Group Bookings.
What game is played
on the Sniper Action field?
The Safari Ridge game is similar to Capture the Flag but it’s much
BETTER! The game is digitally timed and scored, so you know up to the minute
who’s winning and who’s not! When a home base is activated it sets off a one
minute countdown (complete with flashing lights and a cool sound system) The
defending team then has one minute to save their base before losing it to their
opponents. Capturing the home base is worth 25 points and capturing/holding the
8 field zones are worth 1 - 7 points each. You can really rack up the points with
these, and it also gives everyone on the team a challenge. Games are maximum 10
minutes long or in some cases until a home base has been captured. This game has been so
highly rated by the players that it’s the only one we operate now for birthday
parties! Complete
rules are reviewed in the Paintball Introduction and Rules video shown before
your game.
Do I have to sit out of the game once I’ve been hit?
No, you came to play the game - not just watch it! After you have been
splattered you must leave the field through the exit gate, then you wait at the re-entry gate until the buzzer sounds.
This timer is usually set at 30 seconds to two minute intervals, so you never
have to wait very long before joining the fun and action again!
Does it hurt if I get hit with a paintball?
Well..... you usually can feel it. It can be like catching a baseball
in your hand, there is an initial ‘ouch’ but it fades quickly. Getting hit
on bare skin can be a little more painful, that’s why we suggest you wear
clothes to cover up bare arms and legs. Loose, baggy clothes are best, but not
too big - you still have to run around without them falling off! The loose
fabric absorbs much of the hit so you are less likely to feel anything on your
body. Also, your adrenaline is pumping so high that sometimes you can’t even
feel the paintball at all! In short, the excitement of the game outweighs the
pain factor for most players, but if you are still concerned, ask about our new
line of Rhinohide Gear™.These lightweight outfits are specially designed to
provide protection for your entire body in a two piece jacket and pants outfit.
They may be rented individually or as a set.
- Paintballs hurt enough that you don't want to get hit, but not
enough that you want to Quit!
Outdoor Laser Tag
- Laser Tag is recommended for 6 years and up. 5 years and under play FREE when
a full paying adult is playing.
- We try to let groups/birthday parties play by themselves,
in the case that we are busy we will join groups together so the wait
between games will be reduced for all players at the field.
- All laser tag games are played on the
Sniper Action
field.
- Please dress appropriately for outdoor play. Sturdy
footwear is recommended.
